Ask our sales teamChoosing the right equipment
Should I choose an evaporative cooler or a portable air conditioner?
Choose an evaporative air cooler when air can move freely through the space — a hall, warehouse, workshop, barn, greenhouse or covered outdoor area. It cools with water instead of refrigerant, runs from an ordinary 230 V socket at 510–1,100 W, needs no exhaust duct, and lowers the air temperature by 4–12 °C. It does need somewhere for the air to go: open doors, vents or roof openings so the cooled air passes through the space.
Choose a portable air conditioner when the space has to stay closed and at a set temperature, or when you need to cool one machine, workstation or server rack rather than the whole room. It uses a refrigerant circuit and carries the heat outside through an exhaust duct, so its cooling effect does not depend on the humidity of the air. The HP series also heats and dehumidifies.
How do I choose the right model for my space?
The correct unit size depends on the dimensions of the space, insulation quality, heat load from equipment, and number of occupants — and for the HP series, on what you are cooling: the target, not the floor area. The specification tables above give the airflow, coverage and duct figures for every model, and the free one-week trial shows what the unit actually does in your own space before you buy.
Evaporative air coolers (REX14000, REX25000, REX48000)
How much does a Rex Nordic evaporative cooler lower the temperature?
Rex Nordic evaporative coolers lower the ambient temperature by 4°C to 12°C when outdoor temperatures exceed 22°C. The actual temperature drop depends on the ambient humidity — the lower the humidity, the greater the cooling effect.
Does the air cooler also work as a humidifier?
Evaporative air coolers slightly increase the humidity of the air, but they do not produce mist or excessive moisture. To prevent humidity build-up in the space, ensure proper ventilation by keeping doors and windows open to allow fresh air circulation.
Can I use the cooler in a dusty industrial environment?
Yes. Rex Nordic evaporative coolers are well suited for dusty environments. The cooling pads act as natural air filters, trapping dust particles while simultaneously cooling the air. This makes them ideal for workshops, warehouses, and production facilities.
Is installation required?
No fixed installation is required. Rex Nordic evaporative coolers are plug-and-play units — simply connect the power cord, fill the water tank or connect to a water supply, and switch on. They can be repositioned as needed.
Can I connect the cooler to a permanent water supply?
Yes. In addition to manually filling the built-in water tank, the coolers can be connected to a continuous water supply such as a garden hose via the inlet connector. This eliminates the need to refill the tank during long operating periods.
What are the power consumption figures for Rex Nordic coolers?
Maximum power consumption (±10%): REX 14000: 510 W | REX 25000: 850 W | REX 48000: 1,100 W
These figures are significantly lower than conventional air conditioning systems, making evaporative cooling an energy-efficient choice.
How much water does a Rex Nordic cooler consume?
Water consumption varies by model and operating conditions, typically between 7.5 L and 37 L per hour. A fully filled tank generally provides a complete 8-hour working day of operation without refilling.
Does the cooler have any built-in hygiene features?
Yes. Rex Nordic evaporative coolers feature a built-in 40 W UVC light system that sterilises the circulating water, killing bacteria and viruses and ensuring the air output remains hygienic.
How long do the cooling pads last?
Cooling pads typically last 2–4 years in normal environments. In heavy-duty or dusty industrial settings, replacement is recommended every 1–2 years. Spare pads are available through Rex Nordic warehouses and authorised dealers.
What maintenance is required?
Maintenance requirements are minimal. Regular light flushing of the water system and periodic replacement of the cooling pads is all that is normally needed. Easy-access panels simplify cleaning and servicing.
Does the cooler have WiFi connectivity?
No. The Rex Nordic evaporative air cooler range does not have WiFi connectivity. They are operated via the on-unit control panel or remote control (model dependent).
What warranty comes with a Rex Nordic evaporative cooler?
All Rex Nordic evaporative coolers come with a standard 2-year warranty. Register your product at warranty.rexnordic.com within four weeks of purchase to extend coverage to 3 years at no extra cost.
Portable air conditioners (HP-19, HP-60)
How does a Rex Nordic portable air conditioner work?
Rex Nordic portable air conditioners use a vapour-compression refrigeration cycle. A refrigerant absorbs heat from the indoor air, transfers it to the condenser, and expels it outdoors via an exhaust hose. The cooled air is recirculated back into the space. Models in the HP series feature spot-cooling capability for targeted industrial applications.
How much does a Rex Nordic unit cool the air?
Rex Nordic portable air conditioners can cool the supply air by approximately 10°C relative to the inlet air temperature. For effective room cooling, ensure the hot air exhaust hose is routed to the outside. In spot-cooling applications, directing cool air at specific equipment or workstations, the effective temperature reduction can be even more pronounced.
Does the unit require a fixed installation?
No. Our portable air conditioners require no permanent installation. They can be moved between locations as needed. The exhaust hose must be routed to an outside opening, window kit, or ceiling void. Installation kits are available as accessories.
What maintenance does a Rex Nordic air conditioner require?
Regular cleaning of the air filter is recommended, approximately every 2 weeks in continuous operation. Periodically check the condensate drain — most models include a self-evaporating condenser so manual drainage is not usually required. Full service by an authorised technician is recommended annually for heavy commercial use.
What warranty is provided?
All Rex Nordic portable air conditioners carry a standard 2-year warranty. Register at warranty.rexnordic.com within four weeks of purchase to extend the warranty to 3 years at no cost.
Where can I find the user manual?
User manuals for all Rex Nordic air conditioning models are available in the Downloads section of this website. Manuals are available in multiple languages.
