How does an Airrex diesel heater work?

Airrex heaters use a patented oil burner with an electric fuel pump. Combustion gases circulate through ceramic-coated pipelines inside the unit, generating infrared (radiant) heat that warms objects and people directly rather than just heating the air. This makes them highly efficient in draughty or open environments.

Does the heater require a flue or exhaust pipe?

No. Complete combustion inside the unit means no separate exhaust piping is required in most working environments such as garages, workshops, warehouses, marquees, and terraces. Please note: Airrex heaters must never be used in premises where people sleep.

What fuel does the Airrex heater use?

Airrex heaters run on Neste MY biodiesel, standard diesel, or fuel oil. In temperatures below 10°C (50°F), winter-grade diesel or fuel is required to prevent fuel gelling and ensure reliable ignition.

How loud is the heater during operation?

Airrex heaters operate at approximately 48 dB, which is comparable to a quiet office or normal conversation. They are designed to be unobtrusive in working environments.

What safety systems does the heater have?

Airrex heaters are equipped with automatic shut-off systems that activate if the unit overheats, tips over, or detects a fault. The units are CE certified and comply with European safety standards.

What happens after a power outage?

After a power outage, the heater restarts automatically in the same operating mode it was in before the power cut. All settings are stored in non-volatile flash memory, so no manual re-programming is needed.

Can I control the heater remotely?

Yes. Airrex heaters feature an LED control panel and a remote control as standard. WiFi-enabled models can also be controlled via the Rex Nordic app (available for Android and iOS), allowing you to adjust temperature and settings from anywhere within range.

What is the fuel consumption of Airrex heaters?

Fuel consumption varies by model and heat setting — full consumption data is in the specifications table on each product page. As a guide, the AH-500i uses approximately 1.05 L/h at low and 1.42 L/h at high output, and the AH-900i approximately 1.81 L/h at low and 2.3 L/h at high output.

Is there any odour during operation?

A mild odour may occur during the initial start-up and shut-down cycle due to brief periods of incomplete fuel atomisation. This is normal and not hazardous. During steady operation, a properly maintained Airrex heater produces no noticeable odour.

Does the heater require annual maintenance?

Yes. Annual maintenance is mandatory for the warranty to remain valid on Airrex heaters. This service includes replacing the oil filter, nozzle, and gaskets. Rex Nordic recommends using authorised service partners. Maintenance kits and spare parts are available from Rex Nordic warehouses.

What warranty is provided?

New Airrex heaters (AH-500i and AH-900i) come with a standard 2-year warranty. Register your product at warranty.rexnordic.com within four weeks of purchase to extend your warranty to 5 years free of charge. Note that annual maintenance is a condition for warranty validity.
