A professional rally team heats its workshop with three Rex Nordic diesel infrared heaters — the oldest still running after about 12 years. Fuel use is remarkably low, far below the noisy, smelly diesel blowers they ran before, and reliability has been, in the owner's words, “fantastic.”
Twelve years with Rex Nordic infrared heaters
The workshop runs three Rex Nordic diesel infrared heaters, the oldest of which has been working for around 12 years without issues. “They're a class apart. Very economical and so clean burning — you can't get better,” says owner Dommy Buckley.
The heaters run continuously through winter, from October to April, every day. The team even takes them to colder international rally events to keep service areas warm in harsh outdoor conditions.
Stable heat — even with doors opening
The workshop has a high gable roof, which can lead to heat loss. A small air-blower fan pushes warm air back down to the work area, and together with radiant infrared it keeps the space warm and consistent even when the doors open constantly. “It works a treat,” Buckley says.
Fuel efficiency that's hard to believe
Fuel consumption is where the workshop saw one of the biggest differences. “It's like nothing!” Buckley laughs. Rex Nordic diesel infrared heaters are designed to use far less fuel than traditional blown-air diesel units, and the team sees it daily in running costs and comfort. Before switching, they relied on “terrible, noisy, smelly prehistoric machines.” With Rex Nordic, fuel use dropped sharply, the exhaust smell disappeared, and the shop became quieter and cleaner.
Maintenance and reliability
The heaters need minimal attention and deliver consistent heat regardless of the environment. Asked to sum up more than a decade of use, the owner doesn't hesitate: “Fantastic.” “I've recommended them to a lot of people. All spaces — they work anywhere, really.”
